Focus: Soul & Mind

Reiki is one of many energy healing techniques available. Its’ purpose is not remedy or cure any physical conditions directly, but to relieve the soul and mind of any ailment connected to the physical body.

Reiki practice dates back thousands of years; so its origins are debatable. Some say the Reiki practice is from Lemuria - a lost continent that is now sunk below sea-level. From what history records depict however, Reiki is of Japanese derivative (origins). It has developed three (3) traditional styles since it’s recorded origin. These styles have been passed down through generations. The other styles available out there are modern adaptations and often won’t follow traditional teachings.

The 3 traditional styles are:

  • Dr Mikao Usui: the original derivative
  • Phyllis Furomoto: Reiki Allience
  • Barbara Ray: The Radiance Technique

Note: A mixture of 3 traditional techniques are incorporated into the Reiki sessions at Somatic Body.

How does Reiki work?

Reiki Energy works through a Reiki Healer (Practitioner). The Reiki Healer can start channelling Reiki energy after attunement (ceremony) from a Reiki Master - where the Master will encode a special spiritual blessing into the newly-bound Reiki Practitioner.

A ‘Reiki Pracititoner’ is the more perferred term, as the term ‘Reiki Healer’ implies the pratitioner controls the healing process. A Reiki ‘healer’ does not use their own power, but is more of a vessel to channel energy through, from higher beings and energies into the patient on the table.

What does Reiki energy work on and what are its’ effects?
Reiki energy has the power to effect any living being: people, plants and animals. Receiving a Reiki Healing is both a powerful and gentle experience when on the treatment table. Its effects are below:
